Reflections on an Extraordinary Year

Written By Shola Asante 20 Dec 2020

It's been a hell of a year but still worth treating yourself to a reboot of your winter wardrobe.

Reflections on an Extraordinary Year

As we head into the final days of December, it is customary for us all to reflect on the previous twelve months, before the goal setting and resolutions of January begin. Suffice to say, 2020 has been no ordinary year.

The shifts in almost all the ways in which we conduct our lives have been huge. Many of us worked from home, holding zoom meetings in our living rooms and bedrooms, wearing little more than pyjamas and house slippers below the gaze of our desktop cameras. Those with children were forced, overnight, to manage the near impossible task of home schooling our kids, whilst trying to meet the demands of full-time jobs. Are we superwomen or what ?!

We were thankful for the lifting of restrictions in May that led to a summer reprieve, allowing us to head out into the world and meet friends and families. We dined in our favourite restaurants and explored our parks. We were done with isolation and so much more grateful for the opportunities to reconnect with each other.

No more lockdown blues

Unfortunately, the last quarter of the year has seen those restrictions tighten again and for many in the UK, we are almost back to the regime of those early lockdown days. The difference now is the knowledge that we have been here before. We know what will come and we know that no matter how tough, we can endure this period and emerge strong on the other side.

At Sante + Wade, we are so grateful for the support of all our customers this past year. We still dare to dream and raise our hopes for the year ahead. While our lives are curtailed, in terms of the number of people we can interact with and the experiences in which we can partake, we encourage everyone to take pleasure where they can find it and that can be in the smallest of things.

The events of this year have been a reminder that fashion, remains one of the most effective forms of self-expression. Even in isolation, it is still worth pursuing and doing for ourselves. So, in these waning hours of 2020, do checkout the following items that are guaranteed to give you pleasure whilst keeping you warm and stylish in the winter months ahead.
